Tara Ling Santa Barbara
Monthly Dharma Meeting
Saturday, May 5th, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Under the guidance of H.E. Jamyang Dagmo Sakya, (Lama Dagmola), one of Dr. Alan Wallace's senior Tibetan Buddhist teachers, Vidya Gauci will lead the next monthly group meeting for Tara Ling Santa Barbara on Saturday, May 5th. Early this year, Lama Dagmola requested the establishment of Tara Ling SB to offer the opportunity for local students to sincerely study and practice together the teachings she has been giving over the years.
On May 5th, we will explore a simple understanding of guru yoga within Vajrayana Buddhism, go over a wonderful sadhana practice of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, and have time for relevant Q & A. We will use the practice text, "A Praise of the Twelve Deeds of Lord Buddha," published by Sakya Monastery; copies of the text will be available. For supplemental study, we will draw from Sogyal Rinpoche\'s classic text, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, chapter nine, "The Spiritual Path", pp. 127-149.
We will be meeting at EMID* in Goleta from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. through the generous kindness of one of our students. Tea & light snacks will be provided. Please plan to arrive at 9:45 so that we may begin at 10. There is chair seating, but if you wish, you are welcome to bring your own mats or cushions.
Subsequent monthly meeting dates are scheduled for June 23rd and July 7th. On Saturday, June 23rd, we will have a special "shower of blessings" event to honor our dear friends (see the pdf. file for more information). We will practice Green Tara at 10 a.m. as an offering of blessings, to be followed by a luncheon celebration at 11:30 a.m. If you wish to join us for this happy occasion, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 9th, and you will be forwarded additional information.
Tara Ling Santa Barbara also regularly meets for meditation practice each Monday from 7:00 - 8:20 p.m. at the Unity Church Main Sanctuary, 227 East Arrellaga, Santa Barbara. Vidya Gauci leads the meetings with a short dharma talk, followed by two meditation sessions, focusing on calm abiding or shamatha practice.
All are welcome to attend the monthly and weekly meetings, which are free, with donations welcome. For further information, please email email@example.com
